Dong’s Iron Plating Without Etching is a new technolgoy invented and developed by Dong Yuhua, a senior engineer of Dalian Marinetime University, and his sons Dong Wenxian, Dong Wenzhong, Dong Wensheng and Dong Wenbo. Use this technology any requiried thickness of iron deposit can be obtained on cast iron, nodular cast iron, cast steel, carbon steel, alloy steel and etc. The deposit is adherent with strong metallic bond. This technology has been successfully appllied in restoring important parts like ceankshafts, axes, used on ships, locomotives and engineering machinery. The technoloy has been achnowledged as a leading position in the word not only though international inline retrival but also by experts home and abroad.
During the past three decades, more than 100,000 pieces of cranksahfts, con-rods and etc have been recondtioned in our workshops,
THE PRINCIPAL MECHANICAL PERFORMANCE OF IRON PLATED LAYER
- . The microhardness of the plated layer is about HV0.1500~600
- . The wear resistance of the plated layer is equal to or higher than that of 45# steel treated by high frequency quenching.
- . The cylinderical crystal in the plated layer is perpendicular to the surface of the substrate, and the size of the grains in the layer is ultrafine, only 25-50nm, about 1% of that of smelting metal.
- . The iron plated layer looks smooth, fine, dense and defectfree after mechanical processing(grinding).
- . Iron plated layer and substrate combine to form an uniform structure, cracpping any parts of this structure will not strip the iron plated layer from substrate. No binding interface can be found by naked eye after grinding the iron plated layer to sbustrate, having been polished by 400-1000 times, the vertical and horizontal cross section of this combined structure appears in a form of continuous iron grain element along the interface.
- . As long as the fatigue strength soes not reach the limit, both wear resistane and durability of the reconditioned shaft parts can be up to the standard of a new one.
